A report answers the question it was built for. Copilot is there for the next one.
Open a Power BI report from the widget and a Copilot button now sits in its action bar. Click it and Copilot opens beside the report, with questions ready to go: Understand the data, Dig deeper and Write a summary each hold a handful, and a box underneath takes the one you actually came with.
So the colleague who spots something odd in the numbers at nine in the morning can ask about it at nine in the morning, in the same place they found it.
An answer in plain words, with the thinking behind it
Copilot answers in the same pane, in everyday language, and when it helps it builds a visual from the data underneath the report. Expand view gives that visual more room, and How Copilot arrived at this walks through the steps it took, so the number comes with its reasoning attached.
Every answer carries an AI-generated marker. That is deliberate: it tells you at a glance that you are reading an interpretation of the data, and it keeps a quick read clearly distinct from a figure your finance team has signed off.
Your call, per report
Copilot is a switch on the content item, right below Enable action bar, since that is where the button lives. So you decide per report: on for the ones people bring questions to, and a clean view for the ones they only glance at.
That keeps the feature where it earns its place. The month-end pack that raises the same five questions every cycle gets Copilot. The single KPI tile on the front page stays exactly as it is.
Ready when you are
Copilot is live in the Power BI widget. You will find Enable Copilot in the content editor of each report, under the action bar settings, right beside where you build your report collections.
